The MHS Honors Wind Ensemble has been selected to compete at SuperState in May, the state-level festival for high school and middle school band programs.

“The honor is one of the highest large ensemble honors in the state each year,” said Rich Stiles, Fine Arts and Career Technical Education Department Chairman at MHS. “We are so proud of the entire band program on this success. ”

The Wind Ensemble was last selected for SuperState in 2022.

Selections for SuperState are judged based on submitted audio recordings sent in February. A panel of collegiate-level judges listens, submits scores, and provides feedback.

Bands that rank in the top 5-10 groups in their division are invited to perform at the Krannert Center on the University of Illinois campus during the weekend of May 9-10. They will play in front of collegiate judges and peers from other music communities throughout Illinois.
