The Illinois Summer EBT Program, also known as SUN Bucks, is a nutrition initiative authorized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to assist families in purchasing food for their school-aged children during the summer months.

For 2025, the program will provide a $120 annual benefit to eligible children through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) issuance by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). The program is available only to children who qualify under SNAP, TANF, or Free and Reduced Lunch programs. Detailed information can be found on the relevant website.

Additionally, free summer meals are offered for all children aged 18 and under across Illinois. These healthy and nutritious meals are available when school is not in session, with no income eligibility requirements attached. Families can locate nearby meal sites by calling 800-359-2163 or visiting WeGotYouIllinois.org.
