Argo Community High School District 217's Board of Education President, Jennifer M. Grenier, has issued a follow-up statement regarding an ongoing investigation into the potential misuse of school funds by the district's superintendent. This message comes after her initial statement on May 5th.

Grenier, who is newly elected to her position, acknowledged the community's concerns and expressed regret over the situation. "On behalf of the entire board, I apologize for the oversight that has occurred," she said. She emphasized her commitment to restoring trust through transparent and decisive actions.

To address these issues, the board has engaged Meaden & Moore, an independent auditing firm, to conduct a thorough audit of the district's financial records. This includes examining all credit card transactions. The audit process is currently underway with extensive documentation already provided to the auditors.

Additionally, an external law firm is being hired to assist with aspects of the review that fall outside the auditors' scope and to strengthen district safeguards. The board made this decision during an open session on May 21st.

Grenier assured community members that updates will be provided and questions addressed as they arise. Despite her responsibilities as Chief Nursing Officer, she pledged to respond to emails in the evenings at jgrenier@argohs.net.

She concluded by thanking the community for their support and reaffirming her dedication to resolving these issues collaboratively: "Together, we will move forward with integrity and purpose."
