The Waukegan Park District has announced the schedule for its 2025 Arts Park Program. This initiative will bring free arts and crafts activities to various parks and events throughout Waukegan, Illinois. Participants can engage in creating art forms such as drawings, paintings, and sculptures.

Established in 2011, the Arts Park Program aims to provide a free arts experience within community parks. The program is scheduled to visit several parks from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

- June 5 at Upton Park

- June 12 at Bevier Park

- June 26 at Ben Diamond Park

- July 3 at Hinkston Park

- July 10 at Bowen Park

- July 17 at Diversity Park

- July 24 at Corrine J. Rose Park

- July 31 at Eugene P. King Park

The program receives support from a grant by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, whose mission is "to build a strong, creative, and connected Illinois through the arts." In recognition of its efforts, the Arts Park Program received the Arts in the Park Award from the Illinois Association of Park Districts in 2022.

The National Recreation & Park Association highlights that arts programs foster positive growth similar to traditional sports programs by helping youth build self-confidence and improve self-expression.

In addition to park visits, the Arts Park Program will also feature in events like Ray Bradbury’s Dandelion Wine Arts & Music Festival, Waukegan Band Foundation concerts, and Movies in the Park. Participation does not require preregistration.
