The Village of Buffalo Grove has announced the promotion of Briget Schwab to Village Engineer. Schwab joined Buffalo Grove as Assistant Village Engineer in January, bringing over 22 years of civil engineering experience, including a tenure with the Village of Arlington Heights.
A Registered Professional Engineer, Schwab has led various infrastructure projects throughout her career, including road widening, street reconstruction, storm sewer construction, water main projects, and civic initiatives such as Harmony Park and the Arlington Heights Civic Event Sign. She is recognized for her collaborative project management style and extensive experience working with local, state, and federal funding sources.
The Village’s Engineering Division plays a crucial role in maintaining and advancing Buffalo Grove’s infrastructure. Areas of oversight include the Infrastructure Modernization Program (IMP), development review and coordination, grant administration, engineering contracts, permit review and right-of-way control, traffic and transportation inquiries, stormwater improvements, and drainage investigations. As Village Engineer, Schwab will oversee a team that currently includes two staff engineers and an inspector.
“Briget’s expertise is exactly what is needed to lead our skilled engineering staff at this important time in the Village’s history,” said Deputy Village Manager and Public Works Director Mike Skibbe. “Extensive capital replacement projects, our Infrastructure Modernization Program, regional transportation improvements, and the most development and redevelopment projects occurring at one time since the Village’s major growth in the 1980s. It’s an exciting, and busy time to be part of the Buffalo Grove Engineering Division. ”

Her strong leadership skills combined with technical knowledge make her well-suited to guide the Village through its ambitious infrastructure efforts.
