The Lake County Sheriff's Office has announced a new partnership with Nielsen Enterprises and Kawasaki to enhance waterway safety. This collaboration involves the addition of two Jet Skis to the Sheriff's Marine Unit, provided at no cost through Kawasaki's national loan program for law enforcement and first responders, with assistance from Nielsen Enterprises.

The Jet Skis will be deployed on July 1, 2025, across Lake County waterways. They are intended to support emergency response, water rescues, and proactive safety patrols. Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, "This program is a tremendous step forward for our Marine Unit," highlighting that the partnership adds lifesaving tools without taxpayer expense.

Mike Missak from Nielsen Enterprises expressed pride in supporting the Marine Unit alongside Kawasaki. He noted that local waterways are vital to the community and hopes the partnership will enhance patrol and rescue efforts.

The Jet Skis offer speed and agility, allowing deputies to respond quickly and access areas traditional patrol boats cannot reach. They will be used on Chain O’Lakes, inland lakes/waterways, and Lake Michigan for patrolling purposes. The Sheriff's Marine Unit is now fully operational with trained personnel ready for deployment this summer.
