Lake County Sheriff's investigators are examining a fatal traffic accident that took place in Wadsworth on the night of July 5, 2025. At around 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to a three-vehicle collision on West Russell Road at Frontage Road. Upon arrival, they found several injured individuals and significant damage to the vehicles involved.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2020 Porsche Macan, driven by a 58-year-old man from Addison, was heading west on Russell Road. It failed to stop at the stop sign at Frontage Road and collided with a stationary 2016 Chevrolet Volt, driven by a 35-year-old man from Niles. The impact pushed the Chevrolet into a 2020 Mercedes-Benz, driven by a 37-year-old woman from Rolling Meadows.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 33-year-old woman from Niles, was critically injured and later died at the hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet and another passenger, a four-year-old girl from Niles, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Similarly, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz and a passenger, a 40-year-old man from Schaumburg, were hospitalized with serious injuries that were not life-threatening. The Porsche driver also suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.
Authorities suspect speed and alcohol impairment as contributing factors for the Porsche driver. Criminal charges are anticipated following his release from medical care. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team continues to investigate the incident.
