We have been informed of an emergency shutdown at the Mundelein Community Center Indoor Swimming Pool, which is scheduled from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25. The shutdown is necessary for replacing the hot water heater that supplies both the indoor pool and MCC locker rooms. During this period, all water will be temporarily shut off in this section of the building. Locker rooms will remain open but without running water. However, restrooms near the fitness studios and on the third floor above the fitness and strength areas will continue to operate with hot and cold water available.

While the indoor pool is offline, staff from MPRD will also clean the rafters to improve air quality and aesthetics.

Regarding program impacts, all indoor pool swim lessons scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday during this shutdown will be canceled. A full refund will be issued for these missed class days. Aquafit and Aqua ROM classes will continue but relocate outdoors to Barefoot Bay during this period. More details about this adjustment are expected soon.

Additionally, there is an update on the sauna facilities. "We’re excited to share that the sauna is getting an upgrade! It will be temporarily closed Thursday, July 10 from 5 am–5 pm as we complete removal and replacement of all benches, trim, and flooring." This renovation aims to provide a refreshed sauna experience.

For any questions or further information regarding these updates, contact Superintendent of Recreation Facilities Christian Kopp at ckopp@mundeleinparks.org or 847-388-5453.
