The Village of Wauconda has completed the rehabilitation of Water Tower #4, part of its water distribution system. The system includes five elevated towers, each holding 500,000 gallons of water. These towers are crucial for emergency reserves and maintaining water pressure.
The project involved taking Water Tower #4 off Gilmer Rd out of service for inspection, rehabilitation, and repainting. This process was coordinated by the Public Works Water Division Staff alongside Village engineers HMG and water supplier CLCJAWA. The scheduling was carefully planned to align with CLCJAWA's maintenance upgrades and to finish before summer when water demand peaks.
Inspections had shown deterioration in the final coat of paint on the tower. The proactive maintenance aims to keep the tower functional and avoid future costly repairs.
As of July 3, 2025, the rehabilitation is complete. "Water Tower #4 rehabilitation is finished with the final coat of paint and inspection completed," said a release from the village. The tower has been refilled, disinfected, and tested with satisfactory results. It is now back in service as warmer weather increases water demand.
