Lake County Sheriff's Traffic Crash Investigators are examining a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in unincorporated Gurnee. On July 12, 2025, at around 6:20 a.m., deputies responded to an incident involving injuries on Route 45 north of Dada Drive. Upon arrival, they found a motorcycle had collided with a vehicle.

Preliminary findings indicate that the motorcycle, a 2007 Harley Davidson operated by a 27-year-old man from Grayslake, was traveling northbound on Route 45. A witness reported the motorcyclist was speeding and temporarily lost control on wet pavement before regaining it. However, after passing Dada Drive, he failed to negotiate a curve properly, crossing into the southbound lane and hitting a 2005 Nissan Rogue driven by a 69-year-old Lake Villa resident.

The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and sustained critical injuries. Deputies attempted life-saving measures and applied a tourniquet before he was transported to a hospital where he later died. The driver of the Nissan was unharmed and is cooperating with authorities.

The investigation is ongoing by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
