The Village of Lake Bluff will conduct mosquito spraying for adult mosquitoes on Thursday evening, August 14, starting after 9:30 pm. This action follows a recommendation from the Lake County Health Department due to ongoing high West Nile Virus activity in the area.

The Lake County Health Department will also spray in unincorporated areas of Shields Township and Libertyville Township that are near Lake Bluff. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), residents do not need to leave their homes during mosquito control spraying. The CDC suggests people may prefer to stay inside and close windows and doors, but it is not required. Pets are not harmed by the spray, though owners may choose to bring them indoors while spraying occurs.

The product used for spraying is Merus. Residents with questions about pollinators or concerns about the product can find more information on the Village's website or through frequently asked questions provided by health officials. The Village encourages residents to review its mosquito control policies online and offers a portal where community members can report concerns or sign up for notifications about scheduled mosquito control applications through the Clarke Customer Portal.
