Dr. Jeff Schuler Superintendent | Community Unit School District 200
As the 2025-26 academic year begins, Dr. Jeff Schuler, Superintendent of Community Unit School District 200, welcomed families back to school. In his message, Dr. Schuler highlighted the significance of a new school year as an opportunity for students to grow academically, socially, and personally.
"One of the great gifts of education is that each year gives students a clean slate and a chance to grow academically, socially and personally. Whether your child is beginning their very first day of school or is stepping into their senior year, this moment is a new beginning. It’s an opportunity to dream big, set new goals and challenges and embrace the journey of learning with curiosity and enthusiasm," said Dr. Schuler.
He noted that staff members have worked over the summer to prepare welcoming environments across district schools. Updates include classroom improvements, Middle School Capital Referendum Projects, and new programs designed to support student learning and growth.
Community Unit School District 200 serves DuPage County and includes several schools such as Bower Elementary School, Edison Middle School, Wheaton North High School, Wheaton Warrenville South High School, among others (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
Dr. Schuler emphasized the importance of relationships between families and schools: "At CUSD 200, we deeply value relationships and the partnerships we share with students and our families. Your partnership and involvement is key to your child’s success. I encourage you to stay connected—ask questions, participate in school events, and engage with your child about their school day. Together, we can foster an environment where every student is supported, encouraged and empowered to reach their full potential."
The district employs 853 teachers with an average salary of $77,797 before pension contributions; approximately three-quarters are women (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The district's student population is diverse: 63.1 percent White, 17.2 percent Hispanic, 8.3 percent Asian, and 6.5 percent Black (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
In terms of spending, Community Unit School District 200 allocated $23,295 per student in 2020 for a total expenditure of $286 million (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
Dr. Schuler reiterated the district’s commitment to open communication: "We are committed to maintaining open and transparent two-way communication with our families. If you have questions or need assistance, we want you to know exactly where to turn." He explained that principals send newsletters regularly while the district distributes digital updates every other Thursday.
"As we begin this new year together, I want to thank you for your continued partnership and trust," Dr. Schuler stated.
