Mundelein High School Principal Dr. Alexandria Taylor has announced she will leave her position at the end of the academic year to focus on raising her family. Taylor, who is the first Latina principal at Mundelein High School, is currently in her fourth year leading the school. Her formal resignation will be submitted to the District 120 School Board on September 9.

In a letter addressed to staff, Taylor wrote that she has led with heart, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to both staff and students. She told MHS staff members that her dedication to the school would continue through the remainder of the school year.

“This role hasn't just been a job—it's been a calling, and your incredible trust, partnership, and friendship have made all the difference,” Taylor wrote.

Superintendent Dr. Corey Tafoya said he plans to ensure that Taylor’s final year at Mundelein High School is memorable for all involved.

“We appreciate Dr. Taylor’s commitment to our staff, students and community, but understand her desire to slow down and cherish family time,” said Superintendent Corey Tafoya. “It is a bittersweet moment.”

The administration of District 120 will work on developing a succession plan over the coming months.
