The Village of Gurnee's Veterans Blue Ribbon Commission is working with American Legion Post 771 to organize the Hometown Heroes Banner Program for Veterans Day. The program aims to recognize individuals who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

As part of this initiative, banners that display the names, images, and branches of service of local veterans and active-duty service members will be placed along O'Plaine Road. Community members can participate by applying or nominating a service member or veteran for inclusion in the banner display.

"This is a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces," according to organizers.

The program is open for applications and nominations from residents who wish to honor someone through a banner during this year's Veterans Day observance.
