Route 14 in Barrington has reopened to traffic following the completion of a new temporary four-lane roadway, along with a temporary two-lane Lake Zurich Road. The Village of Barrington announced that both roads opened on October 31 at 3:30 p.m.

The reopening follows a full closure that began in September. During this period, construction crews finished several key elements, including four new lanes of pavement, installation of temporary railroad tracks, a complete railroad crossing with two pedestrian gates, and a temporary sidewalk.

The Route 14 underpass project is expected to reach substantial completion in 2027. The Village will continue to provide updates as work progresses.

Residents are encouraged to support local businesses and restaurants during the ongoing construction. For more information and updates about the project, community members can visit the official website at www.us14underpass.com and sign up for email notifications.
