Moms for Liberty Lake County announced that Deerfield High School’s “What Is Privilege?” survey, which scores students based on family trauma, identity, and sexuality, should be stopped immediately. The group made the announcement on X.

According to Moms for Liberty Lake County’s post, the survey was administered in a sociology course at Deerfield High School, part of District 113. The worksheet reportedly asks students to evaluate themselves based on factors such as family trauma, identity categories, and sexual orientation or experiences to calculate a "privilege" total. The group argues that this assignment constitutes emotional and sexual profiling of students and urges the district to halt the survey to protect student privacy.

The website of Township High School District 113 indicates that its sociology and social sciences curricula cover topics like social inequality, identity, and privilege, aiming to foster critical thinking about society and culture. However, the district's publicly available materials do not mention a survey requiring students to self-assess personal trauma or sexual history for a numerical "privilege score." Moms for Liberty Lake County asserts that this specific survey exceeds curriculum boundaries and lacks documented parental consent or prior disclosure, raising concerns about student data privacy.

A Facebook post by Moms for Liberty Lake County highlights complaints from parents who believe that probing questions about trauma, identity, and sexuality are unsuitable for a standard high-school sociology class. The post underscores the group's view that the survey exemplifies emotional and sexual profiling. It also notes that similar incidents have sparked statewide discussions on student privacy protections and classroom data collection limits. The group is urging parents and district stakeholders to demand an immediate end to the survey to safeguard student well-being.
