Georgia Mayfield of Hainesville, Illinois, a Biology student at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has received Honorable Mention for their artwork titled "Lavender Menace" at the university's Juried Student Art Exhibition.
The annual exhibition, held in the Crossman Gallery, invites all students to submit up to three pieces of artwork for consideration. The event is open to students regardless of their year or major and offers an opportunity to display creative work in a gallery setting. This year's external juror was Faisal Abdu'allah, a British artist and professor of printmaking at UW-Madison, who selected both the exhibited works and award winners.
Monetary awards are provided through funding from the Annette and Dale Schuh endowment. Awards given include first, second, and third place, recognition for excellence in various media, and honorable mentions.
The Crossman Gallery has served as the main visual art exhibition space for UW-Whitewater's Department of Art and Design since its establishment in 1971. More information about the gallery and exhibition can be found on the university’s website.
