United Township High School released its daily announcements for November 12, 2025, providing students with updates on meals, school activities, and upcoming events.
The cafeteria menu includes pepperoni calzone, chili with grilled cheese, baby carrots with dip, mixed green salad, and assorted fresh fruit.
Sophomore and junior students interested in learning about school governance have an opportunity to serve as the student Board of Education Liaison member. "One student will be selected to fill out the remainder of this year and beyond, depending on your grade. Interviews will likely take place in December, with hopeful seating at the January 12 Board meeting." Application materials are available in the General Office and on the UTHS website. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 21 at 3:30 p.m., with submissions accepted in the General Office.
For seniors, guidance counselors advise checking scholarship listings weekly via Google Classroom or by visiting the counseling office. The latest scholarships include those from auto dealerships, opportunities for students with a hunting license, and a full tuition award to Black Hawk College. "See Mrs. Drish with any questions."
Students registered for the ASVAB test are reminded that it is scheduled for tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. in the library and will last approximately three hours. Participants should bring a fully charged Chromebook. For questions, students can contact their counselor or Mr. Davis, College & Career Advisor.
In athletics, boys interested in winter sports are encouraged to join swimming and diving. The season begins Monday, November 24th. More information is available at the pool from head coach Allison Patch.
Student council members will not meet this week but will gather for a group picture in the auditorium on Friday at 7:30 a.m. Students needing shirts can purchase them from Ms. Colgan’s room next to the wrestling room.
P7 club meets Friday morning at 7:15 in Mrs. Pueblas’ room (251N) offering snacks, games, and a lesson.
The Multicultural Club is hosting Thanksgiving Grams during lunch periods Thursday and Friday in the Commons so students can express gratitude toward others.
The Annual Queensgiving event for Honey Bees will take place November 20th at 3:15 p.m. in Mrs. Jackson’s room (187V). RSVPs should be submitted via Google Classroom by Monday, November 17th; questions may be directed to Ms. Jackson or Ms. Clearman.
November marks No Shave November to raise awareness about cancer prevention and support those affected by cancer. "Did you know that 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? No Shave November encourages people to embrace their hair—the hair many cancer patients lose during treatment—and donate the money they would normally spend on shaving or grooming to cancer-related causes." Students can visit H.O.P.E Club’s educational table during lunch on Thursday for more information and ways to support those fighting cancer.
H.O.P.E Club members are reminded that their yearbook photo will be taken today after school at 3:20 p.m., followed by a meeting in the auditorium.
