State Rep. Carol Sente (D-Dist. 59) met with several local school administrators in Vernon Hills recently to discuss educational needs in Illinois and legislative proposals that aim to improve schools.
"I'm glad to resume this ongoing dialogue focused on maintaining the strongest standards for education, keeping our children safe and protecting funding for local schools,” Sente said. "It is truly thanks to the collaborative hard work of our teachers, administrators, support staff, board members, parents and students that we have so many exemplary schools serving our families."
Sente serves on the House Elementary and Secondary Education Appropriations Committee, which is in charge of allocating education funding throughout the state. Sente meets regularly with principals, superintendents and parents during school tours and forums similar to this recent roundtable.
Sente's next conversation with constituents on the topic of education will be a meeting with the Education Citizens' Advisory Committee at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire. The meeting is free and open to the public.
