Local ice cream shop Twisted Cow was honored by the Lindenhurst Village Board at their Monday meeting.

The ice cream shop participated in this year's Summer Safety Observation Bicycle Program by creating an incentive program that gave children a voucher for ice cream whenever they were seen practicing good bicycle safety habits.

"On behalf of the Village of Lindenhurst, we would like to thank Twisted Cow and owner Pat Gallagher for their continued participation in the program and promoting bike safety," Mayor Dominic Marturano said.

This year was the second time the village has lead a bike safety campaign. Village officials said they hope the program will raise awareness and promote safer riding in the Lindenhurst area.
