The Gurnee Village Board held its regular meeting Nov. 18.
After approving previous meeting minutes, the board approved a special use permit for Portillo's Restaurant that will allow the restaurant to install a monument-style sign on Grand Avenue near their actual location but off their actual property.
The restaurant's representative argued that it needed a more visible location to advertise its business, since its location doesn't have public road frontage.
The board also unanimously approved its 2016 meeting schedule.
