In a highly streamlined meeting, the Antioch, Illinois, Village board convened with a 7:30 p.m. call to order Dec. 21, 2015, following the scheduled 7:00 p.m. public hearing on tax levies for fiscal year 2015/2016.
Opening with the Pledge and roll call, Mayor Lawrence Hanson delivered the Mayoral Report. Three young women designated as Antioch Queens (Miss Antioch Jasmine DeLara Jr., Miss Antioch Aliya Rhodes and Little Miss Antioch Bella Dusek) presented their portrait to the mayor and Village Board, thanking them for the chance to represent Antioch.
Regarding the Consent Agenda, all items were approved as presented, starting with the Dec. 7, 2015, regular meeting minutes. Included approvals concerned revisions to an employee policy guideline; disbursement of accounts payable; and modification of environmental commission operations, appointing its chairperson and clarifying member terms.
Additionally, the municipal code for tobacco dealers and their respective fees was modified; the Municipal Compliance Report for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2015, was accepted. An ordinance providing for tax levies for FY 2015/2016 and abatements for 2015 levies, bonds and special service areas were approved along with an administrative report and amended tax roll.
Terrorism insurance coverage was waived. Village Administrator James Kiem reported on SSA Bond refinancing, and trustees reported on various items, including the closing of an electronics recycling facility, next year’s American Legion 90th birthday(s) and parks department North Pole Express Train.
There was no Executive Session or Village Clerk’s report; the meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m.
