About 140 projects involving customer service are planned in Highland Park this year, focusing on fiscal stability, public safety, infrastructure investment and community vibrancy.

“Our employees take great pride in their work and in everything that they do,” Ghida Neukirch, Highland Park city manager, said. “We strive to provide quality customer service and take a proactive approach in meeting the needs of residents, businesses and visitors. We look forward to the progress in the year ahead and welcome public feedback.”

The four core priorities established by the council guide both the city’s work plan and principles. Plans considered are defined as programs that affect the public, courses of action planned for approval by the city council and other important department projects.

Goals for 2016 include employing the city’s brand, selling the Highland Park Theater and establishing a community center. Additionally, the city is contemplating initiating an electronic document management system.

Additional wish list items are the implementation of upgrades for the Highwood Fire Service, the city’s Request Tracker, an electronic crash reporting system and incentives for the Citizens Fire Academy and the Youth Citizens Police Academy.
