Lake Zurich’s Planning & Zoning Commission covered ground concerning the Sparrow Ridge Plaza planned subdivision development and special use permit request at its meeting on Feb. 17.
During the public hearing portion of the meeting, Commission Chairperson Orlando Stratman, Vice-Chair Vincent McCormack, Kurt Baumann, Antonio Castillo, Ildiko Schultz, William Riley, Tom Tomsovic and Alternate Craig Dannegger heard updates and took appropriate action on the request for approval of a map amendment for property at the shopping center.
Submitted by Sparrow Ridge Plaza LLC developer John Sfire, the concept and final presentation for the planned unit development, preliminary and final plat of subdivision, site plan and exterior appearance included a special use permit request to allow for the inclusion of a gasoline station, drive-through facility, outdoor dining, a day care center and expanded parking capacity at the property located at 1075-1077 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich.
Sfire, with a contract in hand ready to purchase the land, wants to build the retail center, including a day-care business and a 16-pump gas station, on a 5-acre site south of the Deerpath Commons Mall. The panel's recommendation will go before the Lake Zurich village board for final approval on March 7.
The commission also acted to approve previous meeting minutes from Jan. 20 before adjourning.
