Lake Forest’s Public Works Committee considered sanitary sewers, street lighting and water works topics when its members met 5 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 220 E. Deerpath.
Michael Thomas, Mike Strong and Bob Ells reviewed the Winwood sanitary sewer project. Additionally, Ells presented City Hall parking lot entrance and exit options for the committee’s review and approval.
In other items, committee members will evaluate Com-Ed’s street light conversion project to light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, with a presentation by Dan Martin.
LED lighting has been widely touted as an energy efficient approach to public street lighting, featuring lower wattage and incurring financial savings through the reduced use of energy. Studies indicate that transitioning from traditional “yellow” street lighting to the whiter-appearing LED bulbs could save the village money and simultaneously help the environment.
Martin will also report an update on a water service issue involving lead, and Strong will give a sanitary sewer update on Regency Road.
Previous minutes will be approved and tentative meeting dates for 2016 will be addressed—with the next meeting scheduled for May 16—as well as an opportunity for public comment prior to adjournment.
