Children in Highland Park have the opportunity to earn a free dessert this summer through positive actions and safe choices. The City of Highland Park announced that its police officers will be observing younger residents for commendable behaviors as part of the "Sweet Ticket" initiative.

Examples of actions that may earn a "Sweet Ticket" include wearing a helmet while biking or skateboarding, using crosswalks, helping others, holding doors open, and demonstrating kindness and respect.

"City of Highland Park Police Officers are on the lookout for younger residents who are making good/safe choices, being helpful, kind, or respectful," said the announcement.

The Sweet Tickets can be redeemed for a free small frozen beverage at the participating McDonald's located at 1988 First St.

An excellent opportunity to meet Highland Park Police Officers and potentially earn a Sweet Ticket is during National Night Out. The event is scheduled for August 5 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Hidden Creek AquaPark. It promises family- friendly activities including swimming, public safety demonstrations, music, and treats.
