To review ongoing outdoor patio plans for a new local eatery, Highwood’s Appearance Review Committee will convene at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 17 Highwood Ave.
Ballaro submitted detailed paperwork documenting its conformance to city standards for its exterior features, including furniture to lighting. Co-owner Josh Kaplan tendered plans offering specs, styles and signage needs, even attaching “a quote from our vendor for various tables and chairs to give you an idea of what we are planning.”
To add a festive atmosphere to the café’s patio, Kaplan remitted a copy of his pending order for hanging string light sets from Chicago-based Hangout Lighting.
The 120-seat contemporary Italian restaurant, whose office address is listed as 214 Green Bay Road, hopes to have its outdoor lighting installed this month in order to attract clientele. Furniture will be procured from Edward Don & Company of Woodridge, including stacking chairs and various tables.
Ballaro is named for an open-air market in Palermo, Sicily, where Kaplan’s business partner toured for inspiration when planning the business.
Pending Appearance Review Committee business will include approval of previous minutes from Feb. 23 and scheduling of upcoming workshops, meetings and public hearings prior to adjournment
