The village of Lake Villa recently advised residents that this spring's hydrant-flushing schedule will occur during the daytime rather than nighttime.
Hydrant flushing will commence the week of April 11 and continue throughout the month.
Scheduled hours for this year’s procedure are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and signs will be posted as an additional reminder.
Flushing may be done during nighttime hours as well.
During the flushing, some households may temporarily experience a change in water pressure or rusty-colored water. The best course of action to take is to avoid washing laundry during those times.
“If you notice rust in the water, let your water run a few minutes until it clears,” the village’s website advised. “Avoid doing laundry when rust is visible in the water.”
Villagers can direct any questions to Village Hall, located at 65 Cedar Ave., at 847-356-6100. Lake Villa also provides yard waste collection, sewer cleaning and leaf vacuuming, among other services.
