Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 93.0 percent of Vernon Hills High School's (VHHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For VHHS, its college enrollment rate marks an improvement over 2014, when 88.0 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
Among other high schools in Lake County, the Class of 2015's college-readiness rates were all lower than that of VHHS. The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at VHHS in 2015 was 1,303; 345 (26.48 percent) were seniors.
Also, the ISBE said 78.9 percent of VHHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
VHHS students did better on math (78.0 percent) and English (85.5 percent), and worse on science (63.6) and reading (66.3).
Only 54.2 percent of VHHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
