The Lake County Sheriff’s Office recently announced that its deputies saved a man from opioid overdose on Jan. 8 by delivering Naloxone.
At roughly 12:35 p.m., deputies responded to a property damage crash dispatch. The crash occurred at Rollins Road and North Wilson Road in Ingleside and involved no injuries.
Deputy Robert Skrypek, the first officer on the scene, noticed that the driver of one of the vehicles was unconscious and unresponsive.
Skrypek delivered a rapid assessment, found the 31-year-old male to be overdosed on opioids and attempted two treatments of Naloxone. These doses were met with a negative response, so Skrypek began administering CPR.
Soon, Deputy Lorne White arrived on the scene and gave the man two more doses of Naloxone.
The driver regained consciousness, became alert and was able to communicate with the officers. The man was transferred to a local hospital to be evaluated.
The Sheriff’s Office noted that it has used Naloxone to save the lives of more than 25 people who overdosed on opioids.
