Wauconda ranked 503rd in state in lottery ticket sales for March 2016

The Village of Wauconda had the 503rd highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of March 2016 -- down 46 spots from its February ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Wauconda was $18.14 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Lake County Gazette, Wauconda generated $250,592 in net sales from its 12 lottery retailers in March 2016, compared to $305,880 in March 2015.

The Village of Wauconda is in Lake County, and has a population of 13,814, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Round Lake, Volo, Island Lake, Tower Lakes and Lake Barrington.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in March 2016 was $29,904.08.

Wauconda's top lottery retailer is Minuteman Citgo #336 located at 205 N Main St, Wauconda, IL 60084.

Minuteman Citgo #336 generated 24 percent of Wauconda's March 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Lake County's sales that month, which was $11,004,702.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Lake County in 2015 were Wadsworth, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Antioch and Fox Lake.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
