Volo ranked 249th in state in lottery ticket sales for July 2016

The Village of Volo had the 249th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of July 2016 -- up 56 spots from its June ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Volo was $25.66 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Lake County Gazette, Volo generated $106,864.50 in net sales from its three lottery retailers in July 2016, compared to $95,598 in July 2015.

The Village of Volo is in Lake County, and has a population of 4,164, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Fox Lake, Round Lake, Lakemoor and Wauconda.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in July 2016 was $31,550.42.

Volo's top lottery retailer is Lakemoor Bp located at N Us Hwy 12, Volo, IL 60073.

Lakemoor Bp generated 62 percent of Volo's July 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Lake County's sales that month, which was $11,421,252.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Lake County in 2015 were Wadsworth, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Antioch and Fox Lake.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
