Jeff Urso, co-owner of Duffer’s Pub, Donati’s Pizza and Bratski’s, supervisor of Shields Township, and co-host of the Lake Forest Podcast, said Lake Forest College’s homecoming and senior day "would help every business" downtown and the council is likely "not ready" to host tournaments.
“Lake Forest College does homecoming and senior day; it’s huge everywhere downtown, Lake Forest," said Urso on the Lake Forest podcast. "The notion that it wouldn't help every business, I think, is wrong. It would help every business. But I would say, in my experience and in owning a business for 15 years in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and counting, Mundelein, Randy is one of the most pro-business persons I've ever come across; he's very pro-business.”
“I don't see that the council has a reason to be anti-anything on this," said Urso. “The perspective of scheduling and everything else, I think, the more appropriate thing would have been just saying we're not ready. I think tournaments should come. I think they just probably aren't ready. And I think they probably just are using the scheduling conflict thing as a way of saying we're not ready.”
