'Self Yourself' event aimed at job seekers in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff

The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce wants locals to learn the "discovery model" to attract potential employers at the "Sell Yourself – Lessons from Sales for Job Interviews" event on Wednesday, according to a press release.

The event will take place from 10:15 to 11: 45 a.m. at the Career Resource Center (CRC), Grove Cultural Campus, 40 E. Old Mill Road in Lake Forest.

David Kahl, managing partner of ValueSelling Associates, will present the key points of the model that is meant to help job seekers sell themselves as the solution to an employer. Sales professionals use these techniques to sell a variety of products and services, and job seeker are urged to use the same methods to sell themselves.

Included in the presentation are ways to research a company's key business challenges, establish credibility, encourage an interviewer to reveal the ideal candidate's profile, close the interview and write a follow-up.  

Kahl will share his experience of 25 years of sales and marketing. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clark University and a master's in management from the J.L .Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
