Lake County Board member Tom Weber said he was surprised and pleased with the outpouring of support her received when he announced his run for the Illinois House recently, according to a press release.
"Our campaign kickoff event at Dockers in Fox Lake was a huge success,” Weber said in the release. “I am especially honored that Former Congressman Bob Dold and founder of Lake County Right for Life Bonnie Quirke were there to show their support. I had the pleasure of meeting many new people who stopped to introduce themselves. The biggest surprise was all of my supporters who took time out of their busy schedules to be there."
Weber is running to replace Rep. Barbara Wheeler (R-Crystal Lake) in District 64, which covers parts of Lake and McHenry counties. Wheeler has decided to retire.
Tom Weber
Weber has been on the Lake County and Lake County Forest Preserve District boards. His background is in construction, having started a remodeling business in 1996.
A major part of Weber’s platform is tax reform, and he argues that decreasing the burden on taxpayers will stem the flow of homeowners leaving the area.
According to the release, Weber has also been active in the community, working with groups such as the YCC Youth Conservation Corps, the University of Illinois Extension Advisory Council, the Lake County Farm Bureau, the Lake Villa & Lindenhurst Chamber Commerce, the Lake Villa Township Lions Club, and the Lake Villa Historical Society.
