Analysis: Gurnee pays $2.91 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Gurnee Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 74.2 percent of the $1,983,462 the Gurnee Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $2.91 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Gurnee contributed $1,471,445 to the fund, which saw a $188,508 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $504,573, or 25.4 percent, in 2016. Another $7,444 came from other unspecified sources.
