Analysis: Zion pays $3.94 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Zion Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 79.8 percent of the $1,167,539 the Zion Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $3.94 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Zion contributed $932,135 to the fund, which saw a $149,289 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $236,113, or 20.2 percent, in 2016.
