Village of Volo Board of Trustees met April 21.

The Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Volo was called to order at
9:00 A.M. in the Board Room of the Volo Village Hall, Mayor Stephen Henley presiding.
Roll Call: Trustees Wagner, Porter, Johnson, Heuser, Buttita, Northam – present. Village Clerk
Rydberg – absent.
Also present was Village Administrator May.
Public Comment – Agenda Items: None.
Budget Workshop
Mayor Henley welcomed the Trustees to the Budget Workshop.
Administrator May began by providing an update on the Lake Michigan Water Project, including
a revised cost estimate for the West Group Extension Facilities. He noted that extremely favorable
bid prices continue to reduce the cost of the project.
Administrator May reviewed the FY 18/19 Budget. He noted that the operating budget includes
$4,049,472 in revenues and $3,511,853 in expenses as well as a $550,000 non-operating transfer
from the Water Fund to the Water Capital Project Fund for the Lake Michigan Water Project and
the capital budget includes $3,940,150 in expenses.
The Board discussed the financial performance of the various funds and asked questions regarding
several line items.
Noting that 2018 is the 25th Anniversary of the Village, Trustee Wagner suggested increasing the
line item for Volo Fest from $7,500 to $15,000 for a larger event.
Direction to Staff on Budget Preparation
Trustee Wagner made a motion, seconded by Trustee Johnson, directing staff to finalize the
FY 18/19 Budget. Roll Call: Trustees Wagner, Porter, Johnson, Heuser, Buttita, Northam – all
“aye”. MOTION CARRIED.
Public Comment: None.
Adjournment
There being no further business, Trustee Porter made a motion, seconded by Trustee Buttita,
to adjourn the meeting. On voice vote – all “aye”. MOTION CARRIED.
