PARK DISTRICT OF HIGHLAND PARK: Five Great Ways to Enjoy Rosewood Beach

Park District of Highland Park recently issued the following announcement.

On a sunny day, the turquoise waters and bright blue sky against the rocks and sandy beach may make you do a double take – Am I still in Highland Park or did I take a wrong turn and end up in the Caribbean?

If you want an exceptional experience at the lakefront, take a short stroll down east Roger Williams Avenue. As you get closer, you will start to hear a soothing breeze whistling through the trees and feel the sensations that invite you to come on down and experience the rare beauty of Rosewood Beach.

So, what are some of the unique ways residents are enjoying this beauty? We went to social media and found “Five Great Ways to Enjoy Rosewood.”

1. Blues Beater- When you are facing those Monday morning blues, resist hitting the snooze alarm and invite yourself to take an early morning stroll at Rosewood. Watch the sunrise pierce over the horizon, breathe in the early morning lake breeze and center yourself for the week ahead. The jury is still out on whether a trip to Rosewood has healing properties, but it will certainly can improve your mood and give you the confidence to conquer whatever lies ahead.

2. See the IC – Whether it is enjoying a cup of coffee with a friend along the outside boardwalk, joining one of the great yoga on the beach sessions, or dropping in with the kids for a nature-related craft project during a summer day the Interpretive Center (IC) at Rosewood is truly unique. Its stunning modern architecture and sweeping views of the lake is worth checking out. The center is also available for rentals during the non-swimming season.

3. Paddle On- Spend an early morning or late afternoon paddling on the lake at Rosewood. The waters are calm, and the sounds of nature surround you. It is quite the enriching experience that you can take advantage of with your friends or by yourself. Paddle boards are available for rental during the summer. 4. Say Yes! – Looking for a beautiful memorable place to pop a big question – whatever it may be – Rosewood is the place! Rosewood is a romantic setting when the word “yes” is the only answer they can give you.

5. Escape- Any time is a good time to visit Rosewood for your escape from the everyday – whether you have 30 minutes for a quick stroll along its shoreline or an entire day to curl up with a good book along the boardwalk. Rosewood is your escape to a vacation spot right down the street.
