Gurnee Park District issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
The first days of preschool are exciting! Children are ready to carry their favorite character backpack, wear a special outfit and meet their classmates. This day may also contain some anxious moments for you and your child. Here are a few things to keep in mind on the first day back or the first day ever:
•Be very positive
•Know that over the top enthusiasm can cause anxiety for some children
•Adopt a calm, positive and reassuring approach
•Give returning preschoolers time to adjust to their new schedule

August 30 | Hunt Club Park | 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
In addition to all the emotions, here is a checklist to make sure you're ready for the first day:
•Clothing should be comfortable and easy to manage in the bathroom
•Durable clothing is recommended to withstand creative stains
•Wear gym/athletic shoes for outdoor playground play
•Backpack
•Full extra change of clothes
•Spare jacket and/or sweatshirt
•Sunscreen
•Insect repellant
Growing Tree Preschool staff is eager to welcome children on the first day of school. Know that they're a great resource to go to. In addition, students will receive a monthly calendar with a schedule of activities as well as reminders for anything that is needed to bring for show and tell the day or additional fun!
