Sheri Jesiel led Democrat Joyce Mason in votes cast in Lake Villa Township for the District 61 state House race, according to the latest vote count.
Jesiel appeared to outpace Mason by a margin of 0.3 percent on Tuesday in the township.
In comparison, the 2014 winner, Republican Sheri Jesiel, won by a margin of 20.8 percent in that jurisdiction, beating Democrat Loren Karner, who received 1,651 votes to Jesiel's 2,521.
