Former state university employee Di Prima Anderson paid in $14K to pension fund, could collect $664K in retirement

Former state university employee Maria Di Prima Anderson, who retired in August 2017, saved $14,335 toward a pension over 11 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Di Prima Anderson would collect as much as $664,384, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.

The projection assumes Di Prima Anderson received $13,964 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Di Prima Anderson will have already received $28,347 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
