Former state university employee Savino paid in $7K to pension fund, could collect $309K in retirement

Former state university employee Victoria Savino, who retired in August 2017, saved $6,755 toward a pension over 3 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Savino would collect as much as $309,282, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.

The projection assumes Savino received $6,500 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Savino will have already received $13,195 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
