Former state university employee Vioski paid in $55K to pension fund, could collect $814K in retirement

Former state university employee Frank Vioski, who retired in August 2016, saved $54,916 toward a pension over 15 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Vioski would collect as much as $814,430, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.

The projection assumes Vioski received $17,118 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Vioski will have already received $71,617 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
