Fremont School District 79 issued the following announcement on May 20.
Today, Fremont School District 79 was contacted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and made aware of a concerning social media post allegedly made by a FSD79 student. After reviewing the incident in detail, the Mundelein Police Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and Fremont School District 79 all have determined that there were no substantiated threats. As an additional safeguard, we have an increased law enforcement presence at our schools today.
We are deeply disappointed to learn of this incident and are grateful to the individual who saw and swiftly reported this social media post to law enforcement authorities.
The safety of our students continues to be our top priority. We take all threats regarding student safety seriously. The student involved is not present in school at this time and will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action based upon the guidelines set forth in Board policy and the District’s student code of conduct.
