Lake Forest School District 67 has announced the return of the Big Scouts/Little Scouts Storybook Project after a one-year hiatus.

According to Lake Forest School District 67, the project resumed for its sixth year under the leadership of Little Scouts Director Heather Monzingo and Lake Forest High School (LFHS) English teacher Sara Dreiling. In collaboration with Tim Jennings, LFHS English 3 students created personalized storybooks for their preschool buddies. On May 14, students visited Little Scouts to share these books, read aloud with the children, and engage in playtime activities.

Little Scouts Preschool, affiliated with Lake Forest High School, offers care and early education for children aged six weeks to five years. The program emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and cooperative learning through theme-based activities that integrate literacy, science, and math. According to Lake Forest Schools, Little Scouts aims to foster independence and exploration by blending various educational approaches to support hands-on development. Its mission is to serve both high school faculty and the broader community by providing a safe environment where children can grow through play and guided instruction from educators.

Lake Forest High School was established in 1935 as a public secondary school in Lake Forest, Illinois, serving grades 9–12. According to Lake Forest Schools, approximately 95% of its students pursue higher education with support from personalized instruction within a collaborative school environment. The school serves the communities of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood under the motto "Pursuits become habits."

Lake Forest Elementary School District 67 educates approximately 1,600 students from Pre-K through grade 8. The district includes three elementary schools—Cherokee Elementary (K-4), Everett Elementary (K-4), and Sheridan Elementary (Pre-K-4)—as well as Deer Path Middle School (5-8). Known for innovative instructional practices, District 67 emphasizes inclusive education and personalized learning experiences that support academic and social development. The district’s mission is to inspire students to maximize growth while cultivating respect for others in a dynamic learning environment.
