Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96 issued the following announcement on June 4.
Kildeer Countryside School District 96 salutes the 2019 Superintendent Award Recipients– 8th-graders selected by middle school faculty and staff for their character, commitment, academic effort, positivity, and contributions to the school community.
The Superintendent Award recipients from the KCSD96 graduating Class of 2019 are Twin Groves students Bhavya Vegesna and Matthew Bressler and Woodlawn students Lance Locker and Ricky Tiongson.
Their selection was announced to classmates at a grade-level celebration assembly on May 22.
These students are exemplary–described by faculty as conscientious, motivated, kind, determined, and supportive. They stand out for their leadership skills, working with peers and principals. Their varied interests range from academic extracurricular clubs such as Scholastic Bowl and robotics to chorus and school musical performance. They commit their time and talent to athletics (track, cross country, poms, volleyball, basketball) and to serving their community–including student mentorship and participation in Catalyst, a club supporting a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle for youth.
Each recipient prepared a brief speech and delivered it at his or her middle school's graduation ceremony, held at Stevenson High School on May 28. Their remarks to their fellow students highlighted awareness and anticipation of exceptional learning opportunities to come as Stevenson students, as well as genuine and enthusiastic appreciation for the District 96 teachers and staff who challenged and prepared them.
