Grant Community High School District 124 recently issued the following announcement.
Our Wizard of Oz themed Homecoming week is approaching quickly! It’s a week jam-packed with dress-up days and events, during and after school. Hopefully everyone can join in and show their Bulldog spirit between Sept. 9 and Sept. 14!
The week will kick off on Monday with “Lions, Tigers, Bulldogs, Oh My!”, where students are encouraged to dress up like animals. Monday morning from 7:40-9:25, Seniors will be out in the community painting windows of local businesses. After school there are a lot of events students can participate in! Powderpuff players will begin practicing for Wednesday’s game. Juniors will practice from 3:15-4:15pm and Seniors will practice from 4:30-5:30pm. Those that aren’t playing can paint class windows from 3:15-5pm. Monday will be the last day that parade forms will be accepted.
Tuesday is for “Following the Red Brick Road!” Students should show off their college or trade gear (nursing, military, etc.)! Powderpuff will practice from 3:15-5:30pm (Seniors: 3:15-4:15pm. Juniors: 4:30-5:30pm). Today is also the last day for Seniors to vote for their King and Queen!
Wednesday is “Dreaming of Oz” day. Wear what you wear to bed, but please follow the dress code. There will be a massive block party from 5-7pm with a DJ, games, and face-painting. Bring your family! The Powderpuff game will also be happening from 7:00-9:00, so make sure you’re there cheering on the Juniors and Seniors!
On Thursday, students will have us all seeing double with “Which Witch is Which” day. This fun, twin-themed day will be filled with tricky witches, scurrying Totos, and a storm of flying monkeys. Remember to bring your ruby slippers for a quick escape from this magic mirrored day!
And of course, Friday is “Show Toto Who’s Boss” spirit wear day! Come out in your Bulldog best and show off your incredible school spirit! There will be a pep assembly during school to get everyone pumped up for the football games that night! Freshmen play at 5:00 and the Varsity game kicks off at 7:15.
The fun doesn’t stop there! Our Homecoming parade starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday for the whole community to watch. If you would like to be in the parade, please click here for Parade Entry Form. There will also be building tours for alumni and community members starting at 10:30. Later that night is the Homecoming dance from 7:00-10:00.
Students can purchase tickets to the dance at the school bookstore from 7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. starting on Monday, September 9th. Tickets are $15.00 per person. Any student wanting to bring a date from out of school must complete the Guest Approval Form PRIOR to purchasing a ticket. Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door. Anyone attending the dance should review the Dance Policy and Dress Code by clicking here.
With everything going on during the week, make sure you enjoy the fun before we head back to Kansas!
