Village of Cary Village Board met Sept. 17.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
I. Call to Order This meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Kownick.
II. Roll Call Present: Mayor Kownick and Trustees Betz, Kraus, Covelli, Collier, Weinhammer and McAlpine
Absent: None
Others present included Village Administrator Rife, Community Development Director Simmons, Police Chief Finlon, Public Works Director Morimoto, Management Analyst Sage, Village Attorney Uhler and members of the audience per the sign-in sheet.
III. Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Kownick led in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
IV. Open Forum Richard Brennan, 804 Montana Drive, stated there are property maintenance issues in his subdivision that need to be addressed.
Martha Ritter, 239 N. School Street, stated her concern about the crosswalk on Cary-Algonquin Road near the fire station. Ms. Ritter states vehicles are not yielding the right-of-way. Administrator Rife stated information regarding crosswalk safety has been included in Cary News Weekly and on the Village's website.
Sean Wheeler, President of the Cary-Grove Chamber of Commerce, thanked the Village Board, Cary Police and Public Works for their work regarding the successful Cary Main Street Fest event on September 14th and 15th,
There being no further comments from the public, Mayor Kownick closed Open Forum at 6:03 p.m.
Mayor's Report Mayor Kownick stated the Cary Main Street Fest event was a success and thanked Chief Finlon and Director Morimoto for their departments' efforts.
Mayor Kownick recognized Alex Prafke of the Police Department on his 5-year employment anniversary.
Mayor Kownick swore in Police Commissioner Jeff Kraeger.
Mayor Kownick swore in Police Officer Joseph Fiore.
Mayor Kownick swore in Police Officer Wesley Leckrone.
Mayor Kownick proclaimed September 22 - 28, 2019 as Rail Safety Week.
Mayor Kownick proclaimed October as Community Planning Month.
VI. Trustee Reports
Trustee Kraus read a thank you note from Mrs. DiOrio, a teacher at Briargate School, regarding the newly installed goose crossing signs on Cary-Algonquin Road.

VIII. Administrator's Report
None.
IX. Department Head Reports
Director Morimoto stated the Village's Curbside Brush Pick Up Program and hydrant flushing will occur in October.
X. Future Agenda Items and Discussion by Village Board
Trustee McAlpine stated Lucky Penny's is open and encouraged others to check out this new Cary business.
XI. Adjourn
There being no further items to discuss, a motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 6:24 p.m.
