At times during Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's State of the State address last Wednesday in Springfield, Illinois House candidate and Village of Antioch trustee Dan Yost (R-Antioch) felt like he was hearing about a different state from the one in which he and his Lake County constituents live.

“During his address, Gov. Pritzker proudly announced that Illinois is doing great and getting even better," Yost said. "Hopefully, all of my neighbors, family and friends were able to tune in to the speech and were relieved to learn that their tax bills, checkbooks and home values are all lying to them and there is no need to pack up and leave our state.”

Yost says that he is running for state representative to tackle the problems head-on that Pritzker avoided in his speech. Yost encourages voters who want to discuss the issues and to hear his vision for Illinois to send him a message and schedule a time to talk about how Illinoisans can work together to turn the state around.

“When the solution to out-of-control property taxes is an increase in your income taxes, a new tax on your Netflix subscription or your plastic grocery bag, you know it’s time for new leadership," Yost said. "Leadership that listens to the people they represent. Leadership that understands the root cause of the problems we face. Leadership that is willing to pursue real solutions on behalf of Illinois families."
